Source Title Various Catalogues issued by Edward Eberstadt
Description Edward Eberstadt was born in 1883. In his youth, he worked in the gold mines of California and Idaho and developed a love for the American West. Nevertheless, he set up his shop, which specialized in the west, in New York.

Mr. Eberstadt's shop opened in 1908, and he advised many of the most notable collectors of his day, including Henry Huntington and Thomas Streeter. He continued in the business for half a century until his death in 1958. Catalogues in this collection continue beyond this date as the firm was then continued by his sons, Lindley and Charles. The firm finally closed in 1975 and its inventory was sold to Texas bookseller John Jenkins.
Scope of Text The Edward Eberstadt Dealer Catalogues: 1935-1965. The catalogues of Edward Eberstadt deal extensively, but not exclusively with the American west. They began in the mid-1930's when rare material was available and money was not and they extend into the 1960's when money was available and the rarities were disappearing. Read these catalogues for their often extensive bibliography. Remember Mr. Eberstadt for his exceptional contributions to the field of book collecting.
