The Jersey shore has received more than its share of publicity lately, first for a “reality” TV program, and then for the terrible destruction wrought by Hurricane Sandy. It was once a more bucolic place. Item 4 is the Caliban Press 1992 issue of Walt Whitman's Notebook Used Along the New Jersey Coast September and October 1883. Whitman wrote a 13-page text in one of his notebooks while visiting the shore. It eventually made its way to Whitman's biographer and then the New York Public Library. This hand-printed edition includes a portrait of Whitman, map, and facsimile pages of the manuscript. $250.

For those who collect the Limited Editions Club, or Shakespeare, here is a chance to place 37 volumes on your shelf. In 1939, the Limited Editions Club published The Plays of William Shakespeare. It required 37 volumes to fit them all in. The set was designed by Bruce Rogers, and was illustrated by 37 leading artists, including Arthur Rackham. The volumes are folio size. Item 27. $1,800.
