Auction Update Review

On the Cusp

For the week just ended fifteen auctions were archived:  five denominated in dollars, four in British pounds, one in Australian dollars, and five in Euros.  Four thousand seven hundred and forty-five lots were offered and 3,557sold for a 75% success rate.  For lots sold the aggregate low estimate were $5,093,004 and the aggregate high $7,461,071.  Total sales were $8,531,258 and the total high estimate of all sold [sold and unsold] was $10,521,109.  Total sales amounted to 81% of the aggregate high estimate.  It was a good week.

 

Four sales reached or exceeded the total of their high estimates:

Christie’s:  Travel, Science and Natural History – 130%

 

Alde:  Ancient and Modern Books – XIX century – 124%;

 

Christie’s:  L’age d’or du rail – 117%;
