Week 12, Spring 2010, Fifteen Auctions Archived during the week of March 29 - April 4, 2010
For the week ending April 3rd fifteen auctions were archived on the Americana Exchange, five denominated in dollars, three in pounds, one in Australian dollars and six in Euros. Seventy percent of all lots sold. Turnover was $8,034,324 of which Christie's sale of Modern and Contemporary Prints in London on March 31st accounted for more than half: $4,211,695. Seven thousand two hundred and eighty-two lots were offered and 5,071 sold.
Venator and Hanstein conducted two sales on March 27th and raised $1,563,317. The first was Books, Manuscripts and Autographs and the second Modern Prints and Books. Artcurial Briest-Le Fur-Poulain-F.Tajan conducted a sale of Jules Verne material and sold 92.4% of the lots for $482,069.
This coming week the action shifts to New York where the three day ABAA Book Fair at the Armory, April 9-11, is the honey pot that has attracted a satellite book fair and nine auctions the first of which sells on the 8th.
The only constant continues to be change.
