For the week ending April 16th fourteen sales were archived:  one in Australia, one in the United Kingdom, four in the United States and eight on the European mainland.  Continuing the increasingly well developed pattern of strengthening sales at auction 79% or 2,839 lots of the 3,598 lots offered sold and altogether 102% of the aggregate high estimate was reached.   Seven sales exceeded 100% of their aggregate high estimates:

 

Alde:  The Oenological Library of Bernard Chwartz on April 11th – 172%

Tajan:  Books No. 264 on April 6th – 171%

Adle:  The Oenological Library of Bernard Chwartz on April 12th – 132%

Dominic Winter:  Printed Books and Maps on April 6th – 123%

Gallerie Koller:  Autographs, Old and Rare Books on April 1st – 121%

Gallerie Koller:  Books and Autographs on April 2nd – 107%

Australian Book Auctions:  Old and Rare Books on April 11th – 102%

 

Four other sales achieved more than 90% of their aggregate high estimates.

 

The aggregate low estimate for the 2,839 items selling was $3,131,647, the aggregate high estimate for the lots selling $4,250,292.  The total high estimate for all lots [including the unsold] was $5,514,322, total sales for all auctions $5,650,812.

 

The pace of sales continues to build.
